A shocking case has emerged from Punjab, where a 33-year-old man accused of killing 11 people over an 18-month period has been arrested. The suspect, identified as Ram Saroop, hails from Chaura village in the Garhshankar area of Hoshiarpur.
According to the police, Saroop lured his victims by offering them rides, engaging in sexual acts, and later robbing and murdering them. Most of the victims were either strangled with a cloth or suffered fatal head injuries.
The breakthrough in the case came after Saroop was arrested for the murder of a 37-year-old man near Toll Plaza Modra on August 18. During interrogation, he not only confessed to this crime but also admitted to committing ten additional murders. Investigators are currently working to verify these claims, with five cases already confirmed by authorities.
Pattern of the Crimes
The murders were carried out in various locations, including Rupnagar, Hoshiarpur, and Fatehgarh districts. Among the victims was a 34-year-old tractor repairer who was beaten to death on April 5 and a young man found dead inside a car on January 24. In a particularly disturbing incident, Saroop wrote the word 'Dhokebaaz' (cheater) on the back of a former soldier turned security guard after killing him.
Saroop, who worked as a laborer and struggled with drug addiction, claimed to feel remorse after committing the murders. He reportedly touched the feet of his victims, seeking forgiveness, but justified his actions by saying he was intoxicated and had no memory of the incidents afterward.
Personal Life and Arrest
The accused was married and had three children, but his family abandoned him two years ago after learning about his homosexuality. Saroop’s troubled personal life, coupled with substance abuse, appears to have played a significant role in his violent behavior.
Police have confirmed his arrest, and he is set to be presented in court soon. Investigations continue as authorities aim to uncover more details about the gruesome killings and ensure justice for the victims.
